The Woodward Shakespeare Festival
Incidental Music Competition
CRITERIA: All genres of composition are welcome - from classical, to jazz to ethnic to
folk to new age and beyond – at the discretion and inspiration of the
Composers must be between the ages of 13 and 19 and be currently or
recently enrolled in a Fresno County school.
The Director suggests “music that inspires movement, and captures the essence of the world of the play. The Tempest brings together the forces of nature, spirit, intellect, and humanity — in conflict and in unity — creating the potential for discord and for balance and harmony.”
Compositions may be for voice only, single instrument or for ensembles of up to 5 instruments. Instrumentation is at the choice of the composer, but must use only acoustic instruments and percussion.
