About WSF
Shakespeare is making love AND war this summer as we celebrate our 5th season of free Shakespeare in Fresno's Woodward Park. I am pleased to announce that this season Woodward Shakespeare Festival will be presenting two of the Bard's most challenging works: the comedy As You Like It and the tragedy of Richard III. Both plays offer leading characters of great renown and eternal interest: the vivacious and sharp Rosalind who keeps her cool even when she is madly in love, and the devious and dark-hearted King Richard III who personifies the villain in the Shakespearean canon. Each role offers the audience a visceral and exciting view of humanity's relationship to romantic love or treacherous deceit.
This being my first year as Artistic Director of WSF, I find myself more and more engulfted by the supreme artistry of The Bard. He is a playwright for all seasons of our lives and his ability to write the depth and bredth of the human experience makes his stories timeless.. . . no matter where they are produced.
Please journey with us as we follow Shakespeare down the road of Love and War. Join us in beautiful Woodward Park for another great season!
As ever,
Heather Parish
