The Woodward Shakespeare Festival is working in partnership with the City of Fresno Parks, After School, Recreation and Community Services (PARCS) Department to submit an application to the State Department of Parks and Recreation for the Land and Water Conservation Fund (LWCF) program to help construct the new Woodward Community Outdoor Performance Area (COPA). The new stage area will allow WSF to continue providing FREE theatrical performanes in Woodward Park during the summer months and open it up for other groups during our off season.
The Woodward Shakespeare Festival is moving forward with plans to expand the WSF Stage and make a permanent home for our summer productions.
Early in 2010, WSF was granted a 25-year license by the City of Fresno for its new location in Woodward Park. Currently, the Board is involved in a capital campaign to make the new space a permanent home for the Festival with plans including better security, well-lit walking paths, improved lighting/sound, permanent dressing rooms and more. This community venture creates a new performance space not only for WSF but other groups, performers and organizations.
