Auditions
Our 2nd round of 2010 Auditions for The Merchant of Venice and King Lear will take place on:
Saturday, April 24th, 1:30-4 p.m. Location: Fresno Downtown Library, Sarah McCardle Room.
Woodward Shakespeare Festival is still looking for a few good men! There are still several parts available in King Lear, which begins rehearsing in Mid June and runs August 12-September 11.
Parts available:
Gloucester (A Duke with two grown sons)
Oswald (A high ranking man-at-arms serving the nobles-- pivotal role).
Various smaller, but integral, roles such as the King of France, Duke of Burgundy, and the ever-needed Doctor (with all of that blindness and madness, someone needs a doctor!)
Come with your calendar in hand and prepared to read short scenes from the play. If you have a monologue you can read or deliver for us, that is advantageous. Some parts are gender flexible.
Woodward Shakespeare festival welcomes newcomers to the stage as well as the experienced actors. We provide workshops and text coaching to ensure that all of our actors learn and grow in their Shakespeare during their time with us.
So, come on out and read for us. A summer in the Park spent with Shakespeare, playing to crowds of 500 and up. . . who can say no?
Director Brian Sivesind holds an MFA in directing from UC Irvine, is the associate Artistic Director of the Spotlight Theatre in Bakersfield, and has assistant directed at the Oregon Shakespeare Festival and Utah Shakespearean Festival.
Download the Audition Form in advance, fill it out, and bring it with you to auditions.
